This will be the fifth year of the NSSLHA Mentorship program! This program aims to foster relationships between upperclassmen and underclassmen, to increase overall knowledge and awareness of information within the Speech Language Hearing Sciences field and to serve as a pipeline between NSSLHA members, the campus, and surrounding communities. This year, we really want to focus on giving back to some of the nonprofit organizations in our area that could really use our assistance and that go along with our future professions. Our goal in doing this is to make more personable connections with other professionals and organizations in the field!
Below is a list of potential places families could volunteer at:
– LOUD Crowd: a group treatment to support people with Parkinson’s Disease and related syndromes in maintaining effective communication following individual treatment success through SPEAK OUT!
– ReST: specialized, intensive treatment to improve speech accuracy and intelligibility in children with childhood apraxia of speech
– LLEG: Language & Literacy preschool
